Arrival and Departure

Arrival

A responsible adult must accompany the child into the building. Child care staff will conduct a daily pre-admission screening to determine if the child has obvious symptoms of illness.

Any child exhibiting such symptoms will not be admitted to Day Care Center on that day.

Departure

Children are to be picked up from “Good Shepherd” Catholic Day Care Center from 3:00 P.M. till 6:00 P.M. In the event a child must be picked up earlier, the parent or designated adult must arrive for pick up before 12:30 PM. Only in an emergency or critical situations may a child be picked up from Day Care Center between 12:30 P.M. and 3:00 P.M. Notification of Day Care Center is required prior to pickup.

Upon leaving the building, the children are not allowed to run or to enter other rooms off the hall. The office, too, is off limits. Parents should make sure their children do not attempt to take home items that do not belong to them.

Other individuals (adults over 18) authorized by parents to pick up their children must have their names and addresses recorded on the child’s application form. Individuals may be added or subtracted from the authorized pick up list only in writing. Authorized individuals picking up a child must show their driver’s license with photo or legal or photo identification card issued by the Illinois Secretary of State to establish their identity before the child is released to them. The Center will maintain a record of the person’s name and the day and time.

The Director or the child’s teacher must be notified beforehand when someone other than a parent is picking up the child.

A phone call by a parent will not be considered authorization for a child to be released to someone not identified on the child’s application form.
